Customers: How do I allow my customers to update their marketing preferences?

It's possible to send an email to your customers, requesting them to update their marketing preferences.


***Please note: to include the 'Marketing Consent' checkbox in the marketing preferences, this feature must first be enabled: How can I require Customer consent for data privacy and marketing?***


This can be done via a mass email, or by sending an email to an individual customer.


To do this, insert the following placeholder into your email: {{customer.authenticatedMarketingPreferencesUrl}}

(you can cut and paste it from here, it is also available in the list of placeholders to the right of your email editor screen)


Highlight the word within the email body that you wish to hyperlink, and click the link icon:


Enter the {{customer.authenticatedMarketingPreferencesUrl}} placeholder in the 'To what URL should this link go?' field and click the Insert Link button:


When your customer click on the link in the email, a web page on your mini site will open, with the customer automatically logged into their account and showing the 'Marketing Preferences' section:


The Marketing Consent section will show as per your Privacy settings [How can I require Customer consent for data privacy and marketing?]. It will look something like this:


If your customer doesn't select the Consent Checkbox, but clicks Update Preferences they will become unsubscribed from all email and SMS marketing (not transactional emails such as reminders)


If your customer does select the Consent Checkbox they will be taken to this screen (or if you do not have Marketing Consent enabled, your customer will be taken directly to this screen):


Here they can choose if they would like to receive marketing materials from you via Email, SMS or both.
